This photo shows a ‘feature’- where stone flakes were recovered from a flintknapping moment about 7,000 years ago. Recreating this moment in the forest (where the stone debris was recovered)is what experimental archaeology is all about. By referrring to an actual site, the author was able to determine how long it would take for a flintknapped pile of debris (debitage CP) to be covered over by natural process over a period of time. photo: L.
