Hal-Nor-Brant Youth Invited To Participate In Arcady Performance

By -

No Auditions required

Once again, Arcady’s Youth of Ruth group will be invited to combine with the professional ensemble in a program of new works by Director Ronald Beckett.  The chorus was originally assembled and trained for performances of Beckett’s opera Ruth in 2009 and has participated in five such programs since.  The youth chorus is designed to provide performance opportunities for city youngsters.  According to Beckett, “We encourage all students to apply.  We wish to make this opportunity available to everyone, including those who normally wouldn’t have the opportunity to receive formal training for financial or various other reasons.  There is no audition or training fee.  Only an interest and commitment is required.”  Anyone, age 10-20 is welcome.  Simply email info@arcady.ca and express your interest.   The program, entitled The Songs of Summer, will be Friday, June 24, 7:30pm at Brantford’s Central Presbyterian Church.

Arcady combines outstanding young Canadian performers with established professional instrumentalists and singers. The young musicians perform, in concert, alongside the veterans. Arcady offers between 20 and 30 performances locally and throughout south western Ontario each year.

Arcady has released three CD recordings on the Crescendo label: A Baroque Messiah (1999), Ruth (2007) and Welcome Yule! (2001). The latter is a collection of original

Christmas compositions and arrangements by Beckett. The artistic director also arranged and conducted music for Ruby Productions’ CD entitled Peace on Earth (2000).  In 2002, Phoenix Records released the CD A Beckett Sampler , a sampling of Beckett’s instrumental music.  Arcady recordings are frequently heard on classical music stations in North America and Europe.
