What do you receive when you mix talent and knowhow? In Simcoe, Ontario you receive a wonderful little restaurant called “Trends”.
I was asked to interview Elliot Coelho Chef/Owner of Trends located on the Queensway west. I am happy to say that I’ve been there before twice, and enjoyed their East Indian flair . Along with his business partner Ryan Dierick, Chef Elliot has come up with a menu that reflexes his national heritage and the “Farm to Plate” concept. trendsweb2 Chef Tony experiences Three West Trends Bistro Simcoe,ON
On my last time eating there I ate the Buttered Chicken (simply put, it was great) we also ate the Samosa (another culinary delight). The menu is a combination of the East Indian and the trendier items like Grass fed Sliders served with roasted red pepper/garlic infused aoli & garnished with fresh Arugula greens. Also the Beef Tenderloin served on Roasted garlic Risotto with fresh veggies. Topped with a spicy coffee demi and garnished with double Smoked Chocolate coated Bacon chips.” Now that sounds too good to be true” I think. One of Norfolk County’s “Fairly Fat Guys” and his wife was in for dinner recently and that is what they ordered. I believe the word they used was “WOW”
Just to give you a taste of the talent at “Trends” Chef Elliot was in Vancouver during the Olympics. Helping at the helm of some of the restaurants there, he served great food to our Canadian and European medalist. trendsweb4 Chef Tony experiences Three West Trends Bistro Simcoe,ON
BUT, again this article is about good food and great atmosphere in our own back yard. Trends customers are getting to know them better with each visit. Their bar offers Railway Brewery beers on tap from St. Thomas, Ontario and Villa Nova wines from Waterford, Ontario[ search Villa Nova Estate Winery from any of the Silo pages to read an experience feature on Villa Nova wines CP]. The menu changes as the Chef finds fresh items to work with. So keep your eyes & ears open for new things to come.
As of this date hours of operation are Monday-Thursday-11:30am till 9pm/Friday & Saturdays-11:30am till 10pm Closed on Sunday. For reservations call 226-440-3133
P.S. Music on the Weekends, The front patio, Specials to die for- need I say more? There’s a new Trend in Simcoe!
